Sunday Services # 1

Got out on the bike for close to the planned two hours on Sunday. It was so fu**ing cold I didn't even bother to see if anybody else wanted to tag along. I cruised some dirt to check out the woods, and we're not quite "there" yet for off road adventuring. I ran into quite a few patches of ice an snow; and where the snow had melted, it was pretty soft. But all in all it was a good day on the bike. My route from HQ took me north and down Lamkin Drive below Good Hart. Then it was up the singletrack at Readmond TWP and south to Middle Village. Up Middle Village to Townline, and then back to Terpening via the old Deli Sauce Factory hill (Boynton). Then it was down 5 Mile Creek Road and up to the 95 acres courtesy of the PMS Farm and the home. Check out the details below. WNR # 2 is set for tomorrow, and it looks like we should have some decent weather. Meet at the Petoskey waterfront for a 6:30 start. Be there or be square.

What's up with the 2011 race schedule? It's looking a little sparse compared to years past.

Since I race most of the year nowadays, I've had to scale back a little on the bike end in order to not get burned out. Also this year I'm planning on a 1 or 2 week break right after the LBJ 100. My hope (and Lianne's as well) is that building up a big base and peaking for the 100 miler followed by a little break will give me the opportunity to peak again for my last bike race in the middle of October. After that, I'll take a little break and then start doing some ski specific work until the snow flies: trail running, roller skiing, stairs, and maybe some hill bounding. The running last fall definitely seemed to help my skiing. Does any of that make sense?

Yeah, it makes sense. I knew there was probably some rhyme to the reason. Sounds like you've got it dialed in, and I'll be reading about some good race results this year. Good luck to ya.

I'm not sure how "dialed in" I've got it. Only time will tell the tale. It'd be nice to hit a sub 9 hour LBJ 100, and I'm mildly optimistic coming off a strong ski season. Since you're not going to be flying home for he Iceman (wise decision in my opinion, that race has turned into a circus), there's got to be something out there in the southwest for you to make your return to racing. What's it going to be Sarge?

Return to racing? Read about it on Friday or Saturday.

The suspense is going to be killing me!
